Our Shared History and Heritage

Community Heritage & Local Pride

Ward 2 is defined by its rich history and distinct community roots. Originally celebrated as the “Strawberry Capital of Ontario” in the late 19th century, the area grew around thriving fruit orchards and resort enclaves along Lake Ontario. Today, that heritage lives on through beloved local landmarks like the Bradley Museum, Benares Historic House, and our active neighbourhood associations. Sue is dedicated to honouring this history while keeping Ward 2 forward-looking, safe, and connected.

Indigenous Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the land on which Ward 2 sits is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples lived, gathered, and travelled along these waterways and the Credit River valley. We honour the enduring presence, stewardship, and contributions of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and remain committed to respectful consultation and environmental stewardship across our community.
