“I have had the pleasure of working alongside Sue for many years fighting for the needs of the residents of Southwest Mississauga. She was instrumental in organizing the Southwest Mississauga Ratepayers Associations, who have organized political debates for municipal, provincial and federal elections. She believes in the democratic process and in engaging the community.”

Mary KidnewPast President, Hillcrest Ratepayers Association

“My wife Muriel and I have known Sue Shanly for several years through MIRANET (the Mississauga Residents’ Assoc. Network) led by Sue. Sue worked on residents’ behalf to get issues that affect their community resolved for them. Sue has been the motivator for this group and has worked very hard on behalf of the residents of Ward 2 and Mississauga, and in our opinion, has a better knowledge of what issues in our Ward 2 need to be attended to by our city councillor than anyone else locally. Living in our ward is also a plus to her being aware of issues as they arise. Sue is also the President of the Meadow Wood – Rattray Ratepayers Association.”

“If elected in October we believe the residents of Ward 2 will be very well served by Sue.”

A few of Sue’s past successful endeavours:

  • Sue and the group helped spearhead and stop the Invenergy Development Partnership Canada proposal to build the Avon Energy Centre on an 11.5-hectare piece of undeveloped industrial land on Hazelhurst Rd., approximately 350 metres north of Lakeshore Blvd.
  • Sue and the group, working with another ratepayers association, guided Mississauga Council in creating how Airbnb would operate legally under Mississauga bylaws.
